Pitcher Analysis

For a more comprehensive comment or analysis of pitching you can mail in a video of the pitcher and Jerry will do an analysis of the pitcher on a certain pitch or pitches.

It must be of good quality. The pitcher must be seen from a back view and behind the catcher. Jerry must see the ball coming in to the catcher.

The cost is $35.00. It can be in the form of VHS or DVD. Jerry will call you and discuss his evaluation of the pitcher with you. You can e-mail Jerry for his shipping address.

The Triple Pitch

The Triple Pitch is effective due to its unique spin. When pitched correctly, the pitch can do several different things. The speed is between a fastball and a change up, with a slight curve and a very slight drop. The Triple Pitch has two grips and two releases.

1. Can be used as additional off speed pitch.

2. Great pitch selection to use in a bunt situation so the ball will stay on the ground.

3. With the two grips and two releases the ball has a fast and effective spin that travels 11/5 toward the catcher.

4. The speed is between your fastball and change-up.

5. Good additional pitch to use when your change-up and rise ball are not performing at their peak.

6. Like any new pitch, it takes time to develop your muscle memory. So, don't give up. It will come. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

Fast Ball

1. Can be used as a first pitch to get ahead in the count.

2. Use on corners and keep low.

3. As our pitcher becomes more advanced in throwing breaking pitches, she will use less fastballs.

4. Most good college pitchers don't use many fastballs, because they must make the ball move. As the batters will hit the straight fastball.

5. The speed for a fastball, of a good high school pitcher is high 50's to low 60's.

Rise Ball

1. A riseball is a sucker pitch usually used when you are ahead in the count.

2. In college and good "ASA" ball risers account for more third strikes than any other pitch.

3. It should be thrown at the shoulders.

4. If the batter makes contact it is usually a fly ball or pop-up.

Screw Ball

1. Used mostly on left-handed batters and slappers.

2. Can be used on right-handed batter to jam them.

Curve Ball

1. Can be thrown as a strike or a waste pitch.

2. A curve can be thrown using different speeds which makes it a multi-purpose pitch.

Drop Ball

1. A drop ball is thrown when you are ahead in the count, as it is usually called a ball by the umpire.

2. It can be used when a ground ball is needed.

3. It can be used as a first pitch to a team who is aggressive and swings at the first pitch.

4. If the umpire is calling this a strike use it !!!!

5. Should be thrown at the knees.

Change-up

1. To be used when the batter is swinging ahead of a fastball, never when a batter is swinging behind.

2. Show early in the game for psychological advantages.

3. Keep low and outside, 10-15 MPH slower than your fastball.
